Should we have investment screening to approve or reject Chinese investments in Europe?

This was the topic of a May 20th conference organised by Think Tank Monday Morning, and Danish Chinese Business Forum, in cooperation with the foreign diplomats in Denmark.

In essence, in Across Partners’s speech, we spoke of Small Medium-sized Enterprises in Europe should not be restricted to engage in strategic equity partnership with Chinese investors because it often enables them to expand faster in China and spur R&D across diversities.

The general consensus seems to be that screening is acceptable but ONLY, and ONLY IF, the selection criteria for screening projects were very narrowly defined and the tolerances very nuanced, for the types of investments that would require screening.
